A possibility for a service laboratory in the Mälaren-region

For about one year we (me and my colleague Mattias Jakobsson at Uppsala University) have been discussing the possibility to set up a service laboratory for ancient DNA, where we can prepare ancient DNA sequences from provided bones. Like a 14C facility. SciLife laboratories, Stockholm University, and Uppsala University have now provided us with the possibility to do just that. There are still pieces of the puzzle we need to get in place, but right now it looks promising for a national service-facility for ancient DNA in Stockholm-Uppsala, where we will be able to accept bone material to turn it into genetic data for archaeologists, biologists, and other researchers in general.sll
