”For the dead there is no story, no memory, no blame”

Flavio de Angelis came to the laboratory some time ago with some of the sickest ancient humans I have encountered. These people, from whom he brought material, were not feeling well at all. He was presenting his work in progress in the form of a short-seminar today (the 29th of November), and it was with a mix of horror and excitement I followed it. The DNA in the material looks promising, and we will see more of Flavio and his work on paleo-pathology during the spring next year, but for now he is going home to Rome, and he ensures me that he will not be without tasks and duties there, as several thousand roman remains await him at home.faa
