“Up ahead in a distance, I saw a shimmering light”

A few days at the Middle Eastern Technical University (METU) in Ankara is always good for the soul. Mehmet Somels group, at biology here at METU, is one of the groups I work close with. I’ve said it before and I say it again, much creativity and efficiency in this group.

This meeting was about two medium-large studies we are conducting together that are a little bit different from what we have done previously. They are not ready to write up yet, but almost. And I also wanted to take a peek at how Mehmet is organizing his ERC, and how METU is supporting Mehmets advances. It is funny from what I´m seeing her now, how Mehmet told me the first time we met in Shanghai not quit a decade ago, that he would never get involved in aDNA again. If you once got your fingers in to this aDNA candy-bag, “you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave…”.
