Here is a possibility to do a Ph.D., on ancient DNA, and in Stockholm at CPG. Does it get better? A Ph.D. position in archaeometry focusing on ancient DNA has been announced, and the closing-date is the 15th of October. The position is in archaeology, thus the successful applicant needs to have an interest in human prehistory and some kind of background supporting this. But the task will focus on ancient viruses, why the successful candidate also needs to have an interest for microbiology and some kind of background supporting that. It sounds like a lot, but what I really want is someone who is prepared to devote the next four years on virus diseases, how they are detected using ancient nucleic acids, and what they caused in ancient human societies. If that sounds like fun, and if you want to join the CPG community this way, then have a look at the formal advert (https://www.su.se/english/about-the-university/work-at-su/available-jobs/phd-student-positions-1.507588?rmpage=job&rmjob=13108&rmlang=UK). And if you have any questions concerning the application or the position, drop me a mail (email@example.com).
