Partnering up with museums

The museums are important partners in our work. Obviously they have collections, and knowledge on their collections. But it is more than that, the museums have a tradition of outreach and pedagogical work. Those are good organizations to partner up with when reaching out to the general public with new ideas and results.

Yesterday we visited Trelleborgs museum, a well organised museum in southern Sweden. Among the exhibitions at this museum is one that starts in modern time, and move backwards through the different chronological periods, and ends up in the Mesolithic era. We did get a chance to visit the exhibition, we did also get a chance to sample a few individuals in the exhibition, but most importantly, we had a whole day to discuss outreach, and as I pointed out, the museums have a lot to teach us on this issue.
